THE DRIVING TEST
Provisional Driving Licence
Before starting driving lessons, you will need a Provisional Driving Licence. This entitles you to learn to drive on the roads in the UK. You must pass your driving theory test before doing your driving test. You can find out more about applying for your provisional licence by following the link below.
Theory
What to expect
The theory test is taken at a local theory test centre.
There are 2 parts to the test:

Hazard perception - a video test about spotting hazards on the road
You book and take them as a single test. You must pass both parts to pass the test.
You must score 43 out of 50 on the multi choice questions and 44 out of 75 on the hazard perception or more to pass.
Theory Practice
There are many apps on the market for practicing your theory, at Murphy’s Driving Tuition we offer you free access to theory training ask your instructor for more details.

Booking your theory couldn’t be simpler thanks to the dvsa booking site.
Always book directly through the DVSA, the cost of a theory test is £23.
